Teaching and Mentoring
As an educator and mentor, I continually strive to create an inclusive and student-centered environment that encourages my students and mentees to pursue careers they love and to unlock the joy of learning science.
Teaching
I had the amazing opportunity to serve as my department's Division of Teaching Excellence and Innovation 2021-2022 Pedagogical Fellow (PF). As a PF, I created and implemented discipline-specific teaching assistant training workshops for incoming graduate students from the Ecology and Evolutionary and Earth System Science Departments.
I have taught an array of science courses in the field, laboratory, and classroom settings including:
UCI
-
Introduction to Biology for Majors (BIO 93)
-
Organisms to Ecosystems (BIO 94)
-
Freshwater Field Ecology (E179L)
-
Physiology Lab (E112L)
-
Marine Biology (E120)
CSULB
-
Introduction to Marine Biology for Non-majors (BIO 153)
-
Introduction to Biology for Non-majors (BIO 200)

Mentoring
I aim to provide my mentees with skill-building opportunities that allow them to grow as students and researchers as they pursue careers they are passionate about.
